Recent Project - Improved "Curb Appeal"
The owner of this charming craftsman style home was desperately wanting a little curb appeal. The homeowner knew she wanted something done, but was not quite sure what. Two thing were certain, relatives would be there the next week for Thanksgiving and she wanted something with low- to no-maintenance.
BEFORE: Needs color

AFTER: What a difference!

Three plans were created using a variety of plant materials. After reviewing the plans, a simple "Southern" look was selected. We decided to use more mature plants to give the look of an older garden. Plant selections: Limelight hydrangeas, camellias, hostas, cast iron plants, variegated privot, ornamental cabbage and Heavenly Bamboo Nandinas. A 4-inch layer of brown cypress mulch was used to retard weed growth, protect the young tender roots and retain moisture. Drip irrigation was installed making the garden literally maintenance free.

Two days later, what a difference! Several people stopped to comment about the gardens as work was nearing completion. "Oh, my. This is one of the prettiest houses on the street." "Everything looks like it's been here for years." My favorite comment came from an 82 year old next door neighbor, "My damn Yankee friend done went Southern."
